Emotions, anger especially, are often deemed unacceptable for women and gender nonconforming folks to express due to societal expectations, gender norms, or even fear of physical safety. The Bank of Hysteria is an interactive installation made to explore and validate these emotions. It is a space to vent, to share emotion, and to connect to others.
I worked on this project from 2017-2018 with Malika Imhotep, Jess Liu, Phyllis Thai and Frances Thai. It started as a design project for a class called Critical Making under Professor Jill Miller and we continued to build and improve it with the help of the Innovation Catalyst Grant from the Jacobs Institute.
